Problems with Apollo 1240
« on: April 22, 2005, 05:38:45 PM »
Hi!! I have this problem with Apollo 1240 attached to one of my 1200.

It used to work perfect. Until one day, i was in the middle of something and the machine frozen. Tried to reset, nothing...
Took out the card, everything is ok.
Put back the card, i get a BLUE screen and nothing more.
Tried the card in 3 different Amiga 1200. Guess something is wrong with the card. Took a deep look. Had a little of leak on the battery. I removed the battery completely and cleaned everything, still no look

Any ideas on what might happen and how to fix it?

Cheers

CPU kicked the bucket? The 040 gets extremly hot and is not suitable for an A1200 in the first place.

I guess I saved a Apollo 1240 card a few months ago!  I noticed some furry battery action on mine and I unsoldered the battery!  Good thing I checked.  I am unable to find a replacement battery though.  Anyone know where I can get one?  (it's a special small one, a regular one will not fit)

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

@TjLaZer:

You could always attach an arbitrary battery with the appropriate specifications using a bit of wire.

@Gavilan

I know how you feel. My CSMKIII 060 card in my A4000
died 3 days ago. Now I'm not sure what I will do.
A new amiga is very expensive and even a replacemet
card will cost a lot. For now I only have an EC030
card left. I was looking forward to doing some coding
and after all these years, now I'm stuck going really slow,

Can you replace the cpu on the board?
That should fix it right?

@Plaz:

The most common fault with the CSMK3/CSPPC are the 68060 socket solders. Have you tried applying some gentle pressure on the 68060 with a finger and while keeping the pressure starting the computer?
