Search option and AMOS

Hi folks,

Fairly new here (this is my 2nd day).


Why is there no search option in the forums? The reason I ask is that I am trying to see if there are any AMOS related threads already started. If there aren't then I shall start my own.


I know AMOS got a bad review (which destroyed its reputation), but I have been using it for a good 2 years now, and its one awesome tool.

I have AMOS Pro 2.X with a few extra LIBs files installed (3d.LIB, c3d.LIB, AMOSPro_3d.LIB, AMOSPro_Tools.LIB and one other I can't name off the top of my head) and am workig on my 4th piece of software.


Games finished:

   Alutia's Jewels
   BLIAM!
   Breaker


Currently working on:

   Simple Art 2004

For more discussion of Amos try the Amos Factory website and download the AMCAF extension.  You won't regret it!

Is that the new home of "The AMOS Factory" or a diiferent one, as the AMOS Factory linked to at the AMOS-LIST site doesn't work anymore

Yes that is the new home of the Amos Factory.  It may not be the same as the old one... (I'm not sure if I ever saw the old one.)  But it has been rather quiet there.  Maybe as soon as Sidewinder finishes the next release of the Mattathias compiler we can start working on the Amos compatability extension.

From what I can remember is that all reviews of AMOS were exceedingly positive in its time. Amiga Computing gave it the highest score ever to date; there were tons of courses and games programmed with it. I used it extensively for all sorts of tiny hands-on and proof-of-principle projects. Consider it a TOTAL rewrite as the original AMOS was only a p-code compiler for 68000 with little support for newer processors like the 68ec020 except for the speed.  No assembler-level optimizations either.  If you're on a PowerPC chip you'll either have to run it in EUAE to get the custom hardware emulation or wait until the Mattathias compiler is released.

All my games should work with most machines (memory-wise atleast), but not many people actually have my games yet

I still have yet to put pics of them onto my website.
