Amiga Magazines? Lets see where you are all...!?
« on: March 05, 2003, 01:33:47 PM »
My name is Michal and editor of Amitopia. A Scandinavian Amiga magazine and I wonder how many other Amiga magazines there are out there today?

It would be nice for people to see the activity.

We publish Total Amiga in the UK, our fourteenth issue is at the printers now. As far as I`m aware TA is the only print Amiga magazine in the UK but there is also 100% Amiga which is a monthly CD mag.

Total Amiga is a quarterly (roughly) not for profit magazine. Each issue is about 50 A4 pages with a colour cover. We cover news, applications, games, PD, tutorials etc.

More details and back issues for download in PDF format can be found on our website:

Hi robert

I like Total Amiga (I'm a subscriber).  Can I ask a few questions?

Just out of interest, how many subscribers do you have at the moment, and are they all in the UK, or do you have some from overseas as well?

Any plans for a German (or even French/Italian) language version?

Also, are there any plans to turn Total Amiga into a commercial magazine, if/when the Amiga market picks up to make this commercially viable?

And finally, Once Amiga OS4 is released, will you continue to feature news and reviews for Pegasos and MorphOS, or will you go to being an Amiga-only magazine (meaning AmigaOS only)

Thanks

We've got about 350 subscribers at the moment and sell about 500 copies of each issue in Total Amiga. A large minority of our subscribers are outside the UK, IIRC we sent the last issue of the mag to 17 different countries. We also have several Amiga dealers in different countries who sell single issues of the magazine.

I don't think there would ever be another language version directly from us (for a start sadly we don't have anyone with a second language and also it would be an awful lot more work). That said we have let a couple of foriegn language magazines translate and publish articles from TA and are quite happy to extend this. If anyone is interested in using Total Amiga content in their title then please contact me privately.

We don't have any plans at the moment. If the market does pick up and commercial titles appear I think there will still be room for an enthusiast magazine like TA.

Currently we plan to continue to cover both platforms and in the short term I don't think this will pose a problem because so much software is common between the two. In the longer term we'll see how things pan out, if the platforms diverge sufficiently we may need to make a decision as to which we follow. Remember that to a large extent the products covered by TA are those that interest our contributors so the choices they make will also influence our direction.

The swedish amiga magazine Azine is a membermagazine for 3 of the swedish usergroups (ACG, ACG-G and SUA) and arrives to members 4 times a year (hopefully).
It is also available to buy from GGS-Data, the swedish amiga dealer.

I guess I will see you at AmiGBG, Michal!

Amitopia is a 16 pages Amiga magazine for Scandinavia. It got about 100 readers, and is made on Amiga, for Amiga users out there.

Yeah.. it will be fun. I hope to bring with me something extra for the show, but cant promise anything yet.

Greetings to all at Azine...

A few months ago, I purchased a copy of Total Amiga from Compuquick in the U.S.  I liked the
magazine and have recently subscribed.

Hello all
Total Amiga is AFAIK the only UK print Amiga magazine now that Amiga Active is long gone :(
I write the flashback columns for this magazine, but have been reading the magazine now for a year.

Hello,

I write for the Dutch Amiga magazine AmigaScene. I'm not one of the editors. I just write an article for it if I have time and the inspiration. It's a black and white print magazine completely created with Amiga software.

It's fully in Dutch but our reader base is dropping slowly, expenses increase and the topics to write about are also dropping.  :-(  :-(

But we keep on going. What we do need is more writers and defenatly more subscribers. So take a look on the site if you are interrested.

There are also two german magazines:
AmigaPlus www.amigaplus.de (the best selling AmigaMag, i think), its a "Profit-Magazine"
and
AmigaFuture www.amigafuture.de, its a "non-profit-Magazine
