Mount cooling fans
«

My Amiga is gettin' hot! How should i mount small cooling fans in a standard Amiga 1200 case? It's the regular small V cooling fans that fits perfect under the air ventilation on the top on the Amiga (over the F1-F10 buttons).
The problem is where i should get the power from.

I have soldered wires to the power supply filter ferrites (round iron cores with wire around them) where the power enters the A1200. Using a multi-meter, you can easily find the supplies you need.
What supplies do the fans need, +5V or +12V?

Sorry for the delay in replying.
You can tap +12V from the internal floppy drive connector, the yellow wire is the +12V, black is the 0VL.
The other option, is to tap the power where it enters the Amiga, as shown below.

I've manage to connect the fan by cut some wires. Hope it doesn't destroy something...it's connected like this:

I did just cut the black and red wire and connected the wire and red wire on the fan to them too. =)
Edit: Btw, thanks for the help! :-)
Now it works good and looks good too.... :-P

this depends on what you have installed in your A1200 but if your amiga is heavily loaded with extra hardware, then i would try to spare the motherboard for the extra load fans introduce and draw the power from the powerconnector (where the power enters the amiga).

Y-adaptor for floppy drive power is how I did the same thing way back in my A500 days.Hook your fan up to the second leg of the Y adaptor and you're good to go.

The cut-of-a-wire tecniuqe worked good. But, the bigest problem is that the processor is UNDER the Amiga...on a expension board. That means, that it doesn't help much for the processor. Anyway, the rest of the amiga doesn't gettin' hot anymore. =)
