A1200 tower question
« on: March 04, 2003, 12:08:07 AM »
It's pretty hard to find descent A4000 with descent price, so i decided to put A1200 mobo to tower case and with SharkPPC there wouldnt be any difference anyway, if the machine is A1200 or A4000 compared to BlizzardPPC and CyberstormPPC. What case would be perfect or preferred, if i want to use A1200 mobo, Mediator1200SX and SharkPPC in the future? I got brand new A4000 keyboard, so is there a kb adapter for that to use with A1200?

@ruffneck
First off... I love the avatar!  Speedball rocks!

Now, for the A1200... I've thought about this, too.  I think that Mediator is kinda a slick piece of kit.  I'd guess that the best case would be the Elbox Mirage A1200 setup, as they're the ones that make the cards... They oughta know how to fit it all together.

I share the skepticism about ever seeing the SharkPPC, though.  A LOT of skepticism.  And, even if it does ship, there's no guarantee anything will run on it.  As I understand it, they've (Elbox) already concluded that there is no way a classic Amiga could address the PPC chip (in 3.9 or less).  So... They're not going to release the Shark until OS4 is out....  But, no one has concluded that OS4 would support it, either... And why not release the SharkPPC with a custom linux kernel just to show your proof of concept works??  This all seems very strange to me...

Personally, I keep hoping to stumble over an old BlizzardPPC or CyberstormPPC in a cheap resale store.  (I have both an A1200 and A4000 around -- the 4000 is actually set up, the 1200 is a barebones machine and currently crated.)  Chances are probably near nil, of a PPC showing up around here though, as very few made it to my area, in the first place...
