« on: March 19, 2005, 05:17:57 PM »
Hi
Im just configuring ibrowse trying to find a font i like and im just wondering what other ppl have theres set to??
I have mine as the following,Normal font.Tahoma/21 and then fixed width font,Arial..
The size isnt very good though so im having a bit of trouble actually figuring it out correct.Should the fixed font have a number  size after it???

Yeah i have seen that site many times but there is still a lot of things i dont get at all.
I mean how do actually choose the font you want??? it looks like crap on here with stupidly small writing i can hardly read..

On the Amiga, I've always found it better to ignore what font the page is supposed to have and just use the clearest font I have for each size. (many fonts converted from PC to Amiga look like chunky crap)

exactly my thought too, mr_a500 :-)

Without antialias some ttf fonts, looks bad.

The best choise, is to intall the fonts that looks better on your resolution and pitch size/kind of monitor.

@ Gav

goto Settings>HTML (click twice on HTML) >Fonts and chose what you want (don't use the 9 points for on hi resolution)

Bye :-)

@Gav

There's another well known Tutorial on installing web fonts into Voyager, which I found useful and adapted it when I switched to IBrowse.

Cheers,

I'm using the ibfonts.lzx package from the IBrowse homepage/mailing list and elements of the http://www.kittycat.co.uk tutorial:

On my A4000T I've installed the ttf.library and configured the TrueType outlines according to the tutorial with the Font manager. Normal font is Times New Roman, fixed width is Courier New.

On my AmigaONE I've done pretty much the same thing, only I'm using the downloaded fonts with OS4's built-in TrueType engine. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow grouping fonts into families (Normal, Bold, Italic, etc all get a single .font and .otag file) like the ttf.library. The fonts are better looking, though.

Then I just added the other fonts to the list: Andale Mono, Arial Narrow, etc., etc. I put in the smallest font at size 10, and then let the Range button take care of the rest.

Ok well cheers lads for the help and now i installed all the the fonts that the amiga core fonts site said to do.
Then i went over to that kittycat.co.uk and now im a bit stuck here.Im confused with the part where you have to open a shell and type "ttfcp cp1252.txt env" i mean is that all i type or do i need to add something else?
If anyone could tell me how to do so it would be great,i have ttf manager installed on empty 3 partion..
Cheers for the help.

In all honesty, I didn't bother with that part. But yeah, it's a simple command-line tool. Download that file, run the command shown, and then check in ENVARC: to verify that there is indeed a file in there called ttfcodepage. That should do it.

With my setup, I have noticed that a few characters are still garbled and a few others just don't show up. The fact that I haven't done this could explain it.

Ok cheers, well i aint got around to doing that yet but since i installed all those fonts a lot pages look good. But a page such as google looks awful, the fonts look thick in width but small in height and all stuck close together.
Same goes for amigaworld but amiga.org looks great..
