Amiga Software Wanted
« on: March 19, 2005, 02:01:43 AM »
I finally dug one of my Amigas out of exile and want to replace some of the games I used to have.  I'm looking for originals of Empire, Populous, Civilization, and posibily Settlers.

Thanks!  :python:

Err.... that game did not look "hi res"...  640x512 or something...

Anyway - to answer the question politely, the "64 and More Store" at www.64andmore.com carries lots of "lo res" Amiga classics.  They are used, but complete in box for very low prices.  (To match the resolution :) )

What's so great or unlame about this game?  I checked it out and I get the impression of a souped up version of Gauntlet II.  Is there more to it?

You could also go to www.back2roots.org to see what they have :-)

All the software on there is free (they have permission from the copyright holders to have the stuff on their site as long as they don't make any money from it).

You might even see games that you'd completely forgotten about :-D

>souped up version of Gauntlet II. Is there more to it?

Comparing Total Chaos to Gauntlet
is like comparing an amiga with a ball of dust.
There is no similarities.

All gauntlet games are:

Stressing.
Mindless.
Boring.
An arcade game.
Crap in playability and lastability.
Only enjoyable if you have yet to go around the sun for the 10. time.

Total Chaos is:

Relaxing.
Brain Candy.
Fun.
A strategy game.
Almost perfect in ways of playability, and has 100% lastability.
Very enjoyable for any age.

Some ppl just cant get themselves
to like or play strategy games, regardless of quality.
Maybe you are one of those?

Total Chaos is my favourite game of all time.
Hopelessly addicted to the world\'s best strategy game.

What's so great about is that it has fantastic gameplay and replayability.

Another great thing is that it is for the Amiga and PC users always ask for a PC version since it is better than any PC strategy game.

What is so unlame about is is that it runs on a plain Amiga 1200, does not require a gfx card or sound card, yet runs in 640x512 256 colors -faster- than Civilization runs in 320x256 256 colors.

There are many other reasons but I figure u can read the Aminet readme for more info.

hehehehehehehehe :-D

Gauntlet II is an action game played with joystick.
You explore a dungeon and fight monsters.
You run around fast and shoot things.
Be careful not to shoot the food! :-D
You only get to control 1 creature.

Total Chaos is turn based streategy game played with mouse and keyboard.
You explore a dungeon and fight monsters.
You summon monsters to fight for you.
You directly control all of your monsters in your fight against the hordes of evil enemy monsters.
You get to control as many creatures as you summon.
You cast various magic spells on your creatures to enhance them in various ways (add wings, increase hitpoints, increase speed, etc. etc.)

You cast various magic spells at your enemies to hurt them such as drain their brain, rip off their legs, rip off their wings, damage their hitpoints, turn them to stone, etc.

So I guess u could say Total Chaos is a "remake" of Gauntlet II with joystick action removed and turn based strategy inserted.:-)  Plus hundreds of new monsters and magic spells included plus it runs at quadruple the resolution of Gauntlet II with 256 colors instead of Gauntlet II's 32 colors.  Plus many other improvements plus many other changes.

Well count the pixels in the screenshots.
There are 640 of them across.
There are 512 of them down.

Or load the game and count them on your screen.
All the hires pixels are there I promise you.

Why is "lo res" in quotes?  If the game runs in 320x256 resolution then it is in LORES mode according to the AmigaOS, Source Code, and all Amiga RKRMs.
