...as they are obviously trying to promote a profesional attitude

They want to start by sorting out a professional look first of all I would think  :-o It's terrible at the minute!

Whats wrong with the look? Its clean and its easy to navigate, exactly what a professional website should be. What more can you ask for?

 :roflmao:

Wake me up when it's time to say I told you so...
Offered my services and all for free.....Could they, just for once, get someone who knows what the community is expecting, to do something for them. Anyone Anywhere could see that the website falls far short of hopeful expectations. Man, what else can they screw up. :bigcry:

Look, I'm tempted to create a kinda mirror site to AmigaInc which is actually slick. I could scrape their own HTML for content on the fly.

I'd be ashamed to release such a crap website. :whack:
Surely it's not HMetal's doing. Is it Garry's kid or something? Oh, wait, is it that kid on the news page then? :quickdraw:

Let me describe this website with a single emoticon. :mickeymouse:
Been waiting for a reason to use that.

Ok. Going back to my happy place now. :admonish:

Folks,

Everyone here is certainly entitled to their opinions but I believe that the real issue is being overlooked.  Will the "New" Amiga actually have anything to develop, show, or produce for the reamining user community?  Websites are just a "place holder" on the internet to advertise a company.  Now if you don't like their "new" look, then why not email them with constructive criticism (do not be rude or demeaning or your email will simply wind up in the virtual trashcan)?  If after a few weeks you see no change, that will likely be a good (first) indicator of just how much attention the "new" company is willing to give to the remaining community.

I personally don't care for the look of their "new" website but that is the least of my concerns about the future of the AMIGA computer as we know / understand it.

So here is an opportunity for the "new" AMIGA Inc.  Let's see what they do.

Regards,
ltstanfo
Gee Brain... what do you want to do tonight?

Any idea what they mean by this?

Please note, the development of future versions of the Amiga Operating System is not available for third party development or distribution.

Does this mean that all future versions of Amiga OS will be developed in house and that they will be the sole distributors?

>Questions about AmigaOS 4 etc

Hi
Mr Bill McEwen mention INTENT for 68K CPU several years ago.

If Amiga Inc ported AmigaDE /AA + Intent to AmigaOS 3.X + classic amiga 68K:

1. This will provide a bridge from Classic Amiga to the new AmigaOne.
Various applications for AmigaDE/AA can run without modification / re-compilation on both Classic Amiga and Amiga One.

2. Software developed on Classic Amiga + AmigaDE/AA can run on AmigaOne, Windows +X86, WinCE etc.

3. Software developed on AmigaOne, Windows + X86 +AmigaDE/AA, WinCE + AmigaDE/AA can run on classic amiga.

Will Amiga Inc release AmigaDE /AA for Amiga OS 3.X?

It's good to see the site back up.  And, it's good to see the imaginary company KMOS is no officially just Amiga, Inc. like it always has been.

But, surely this didn't take over a month to produce?

Well, at least they got rid of the rediculous, "so the world may know", slogan.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Well, the layout is nice. It's very easy to navigate, and it seems to work perfectly in IBrowse (old site had some layout issues). It's a little "spartan" on content, though.

Anyone else notice that the Personal Computer in the AmigaAnywhere breakdown graphic is an A2000? :-D

Suggestions:
-Maybe make News the default page rather than Amiga Anywhere?
-Some uniformity to the navigation graphics would be nice.
-More content and information! (When's that huge OS4 Portal going to be launched?)
-Swap the position of the Home/News/Events links with the date.
-There doesn't seem to be a way to modify account info anymore. Might want to get to work on this!

From what I have read this could easyly mean the end for AmigaOS. It is clearly said that OS4 will come out only for AOne and Cyberstorm (unless someone is willig to buy an extralicense, what is quite unlikely).
There will be no further development on Amiga OS from third party (this includes Hyperion). That means once OS4 is out there will be no OS 4.1 unless AInc itself would develop it, what is even more unlikely, as they have stated that they have no interest in AmigaOS.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

I'm starting to see what lead AHT over to AROS after some meeting with Amiga Inc. Now more then ever, Open Source is the only future, IMO. :kitty:

:-?
what the heck are you talking about?
You were expecting what? Tons of Flash and explosions, and god only knows what else?

I think it's clean and neat and easy to navigate and I can't TELL you how often I come across a site that is nothing but a mire of chaos! Just because some goof-ball wants it to look "cool".

If you need to satisfy certain criteria, then you create a site accordingly. I'm sure they wanted this site to be accessable by at least ONE amiga browser. I understand that because I;m right now in the process of adding things to my site for eventual sale on a CD. I have tried very hard to make it nice but still viewable with amiga browsers. And I go to the troiuble to see my pages under as many amiga browsers as I can find! (that includes looking at it on other systems like Peg and AmigaOne).

anyway, it's a good start and looks professional and friendly (ie, not COLD).

plus, a bit of egotism, here: my AmigaEast logo is on this site. (this was a pleasant surprise!)

so, feh on you!  :-P

KMOS must have some interest in Amiga OS since they bought it even before they bought Amiga Inc.  However, they have expressed little interest in Amiga OS on the desktop and if Gary Hare has any business sense it comes as no surprise.  OS development is expensive and I doubt there is currently a big enough market for OS 4 and beyond on the desktop to support that development cost.

What exactly KMOS wants to do with Amiga OS is not clear.  If maintaining a desktop version of Amiga OS alongside a version for whatever market Gary Hare plans on targetting requires very little effort, I would imagine that they would continue selling a desktop version.  If they move the OS in a direction that would make it difficult to maintain a desktop version, I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped it.  Even if they have a new version every year and they charge $50 for the upgrade, they'll probably have just enough to support one programmer working full time on the project.  Even Apple can't maintain a rate of one new OS release a year and they surely have more than one programmer working on OS X.

IMHO, the only way Amiga OS on the desktop makes business sense is if the development is largely bankrolled by some other use of the OS making the development of the desktop version largely free.
