Digital camera&classicamiga
« on: March 08, 2005, 09:28:47 PM »
Best second-hand easy to get and cheap digital camera for amiga?
Any advise here would be nice as I am willing to buy me a camera(first one!) which must work with the spider or through serial connection hypercom4.
Have to buy me the spider also and I am not really sure to go for the spider or the algor which also has the flashrom.
Any experience out there?

Look at PtpDigCam for a list of tested Digital USB Cameras.
If the one you chose is compatible with the PTP protocol (the above list is for the models who are tested and reported back), it will work with this nice proggie.

The Spider PCI for the Mediator is a good choice as it is USB 2.0 card but you will have to register Poseidon.

I think that Algor comes with the fully registered USB stack and so does the Subway USB card.

We sell quite a lot of Amiga USB hardware.

Nearly any camera should "work" if you're willing to swap out the memory card to a USB card reader. That'll give you access to photos.

If you have an A1200 (or A600), you can do this directly through the PCMCIA port with cfd.lha from Aminet.

No have no 1200/600 but a 4000.
Would a universal cardreader linked to the usb port work?
Or would it need software to drive it?
Or is it just accessable as a harddisk?

Almost *every* card reader should work with Poseidon (the usb stack of algor and spider). The software needed is included. When you insert the camera's storage medium (mem stick, CF, etc) in the card reader, it will pop up on the workbench as a new disk.

You could also plug the camera directly to the usb port, assuming it supports the mass-storage protocol. The results would be the same as above.
Anyway is the only way
