Are they only ment to work with the Elbox PCI boards? I was really thinking of buying a Prometheus and a Shark.  :-(

The Mediator is the Elbox PCI, I have been inundated
with upgrade offers from Elbox ( nice of them ) to the
Mediator SX but I have heard the reason for the upgrade is because the SharkPPC does not work in
the Mediator.

It might work in other PCI boards but it wont be
supported and probably the software required to
bootstrap it won't be available.

If you want it - apparently its MediatorSX or nothing.

Mediator is made by ELBOX in Krakow/Poland. And SharkPPC will only be for Mediator boards and not anything else. Its the same thing as SpiderUSB 2.0

I don't take offense it because I reported it as something I had *heard* - that the Mediator ( as in the original Mediator that was BOUGHT by A1200 owners ) does not work with SharkPPC.

You can scream like a bitch all you like. I don't mind. If it is an untrue rumour then fine, it will be disproved the minute someone gets hold of one for his/her Mediator.

Just because its on a website doesn't mean its true and just because its a rumour doesn't mean its untrue. After all the Elbox website claimed for ages
that you would be able to use TV cards and the like in your Mediator and we all had to by an MM update
( which contained two push in chips ).

So yeah, I don't think the Elbox site is a reliable
source of information. At least a rumour is called
a rumour.

Sorry, but what is the point in posting this ?

There is NO OS to run on that HW.

Sofar they refused to send one to Hyperion, and there "It'll just
run the A1-version"-babble doesn't make any sense because:

That version won't be sold shrink-wrapped.
That version won't have any drivers for accessing the classic HW.
They don't have a licence (they arte only in the list of those who talked
about a licence).
Acessing the clasic through the Mediator will probraly need lots of
changes in the 68k-emu,kernel and HAL.
Hyperion are the only ones who could do that, and I somehow doubt
they would have time for it in the forseeable future.

Elbox flat-out refuses to cooperate with MOS or even Linux.

So having a Shark in your Amiga is just a very expensive form of
room-heating, plus maybe a nice thing to look at  :-P
