Return of the greats
« on: March 02, 2005, 11:29:17 AM »
If Amiga OS 4.0/MorphOS owners want some of the great developers to return to Amiga they should start by buying their programs. Paul Nolan is an old friend of mine but he no longer updates the Amiga version of Photogenics 5.0. Not because he can't do it but because he has no sales. Please support Paul if you can and buy this great program, it will encourge him to do a OS 4.0 & MorphOS version. please support other great Amiga developers too like Nova Design, GrasshopperLLC, Airsoft Softwair and many others.

People will buy the OS3 version now in hopes of getting to pay for a new upgraded version later? That sounds like a strange deal to me. How many sales does Mr. Nolan require in order to bring out the OS4 and MorphOS versions of Photogenics? Are such numbers feasible given the current small user base, a fraction of which will already have the program and see no need to buy another?

It's a devillish catch-22, I agree, but somehow I don't expect this sort of naive advertising (buy!buy!buy!) to work. Here's another suggestion: as I recall the Amizilla booty is now written with nearly 5 digits. Why don't you ask permission of the very generous contributors to transfer part of that amount to the support of programs like that of Mr. Nolan and others? Those programs have a proven Amiga code base and thus should be much easier to port to OS4 or MorphOS. In other words, you get more bang for the buck :-). And if no permission is given, well, you can at least say you've tried.

Or possibly buy version 3 with the ability to upgrade to the OS 4.x version free or at a greatly reduced price if and when it's available?
BTW can we get some screen shots examples of the current version?
(Never mind, I found the shots on another page)

Didn't know you could still buy Photogenics new.
I think it is still the 4-5 Years old Version that came in the custom CD-Case ? I got it for 10 EUR used some years back. Never seen the box  or the picture on it in conjunction with photogenics.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

@Pyromania

Well I own photoginics 3,4 and 5. And I was pretty miffed at features
missing from the Amiga versions.
No Gif support, no printing in version 5.

Other than that, it is an exellent program.
If Paul would update it with a FULL set of loaders + savers
and features I WOULD buy version "6" etc.
