« on: February 28, 2005, 06:11:31 PM »
Greetings,
I just recently aquired an Amega 2000.  I no nothing about this particular series and currently am researching.  (When i have time LOL)
I would like to know what formating Software for hard drive I need to obtain.  As well as an OS.
I understand that these Amigas can use standard ATA hard drives also?  sorry for my lack of knowledge and any help would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks
T.s

Welcome to a.org!

OK... Amiga 2000 Standard proberbly has "Kickstart 1.3".

Your 1st place to look is for an OS. Basically, what do you get when you fire it up?

A hand holding a disk, or a disk going into a drive?

Let us know...

Did you acquire any disks with the system ?. If so, are there any that are labeled Workbench (1.3 or 2.04), Extras, Fonts etc. If there are, Insert the one labeled workbench and you should (All well and good) be taken to the Amiga workbench desktop. Which should have a couple of icons in the top lefthand corner of the screen that look like disks.

This is the Amigas equivalent of the Pc`s windows desktop.
