I haven't dealt with ebay for years, so I really taken back with these prices. I should be able to get rich off of my old Amiga parts. I wonder what a nice, classic A1000 would bring?
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

Rob,

Hey since you are a A1000 freak I need some help!  I have this DKB Insider II card I have yet to install, would you happen to have the manual or install disk handy?  I just need a copy of it so I can install it into my A1000.  Would be nice to have 2MB RAM on that rig!

Tj:

1) Yes, you are nuts.  Though I know how rare that book is.

2) I did look around for any DKB stuff to help you out when you asked before, but came up empty.  I have a Spirit board and could look in the case and tell you what it's lines are attached to, but I think we decided that this was different than the DKB?

Just curious - why not a SOTS expander like the C-Ltd ones you see on ebay every few weeks.  There's one up there now
Amiga 1000 expander

Alternately - I get internal and external expansions all the time for the 1000.  Shaf is mailing me some 1000 stuff I traded him for within the next few weeks (was delayed due to Canada customs strike) and he says there's a 2MB Comspec SOTS with that stuff.  When it arrives, I'll trade you for a 16KB Atari 800 Mem cart or an Amiga 2000 battery repair job if you like.

Rob,

Yeah the DKB is different.  Well I tell you what, if you have a extra external ram card for the A1000 I will trade you for a Atari 800 16k ram card.  I have a spare one. :)

Since some of you have wondered why pay such a high price for a C= vga adaptor; Commodore initially released the adaptors with the A4000 but later found that the original design caused genlock problems, etc. with the Video Toaster 4000 board.  I believe the -02 revision is the fix for this problem.  I have a few of the earlier -01 revisions and have noticed no problems with everyday use, but then again I don't have a Toaster 4000 board.  Perhaps there's a Toaster user out there who could verify this.

FastRobPlus I am also a A1000 nut, I have 5 of them including one in the original box that was only used a few times. I would like to add harddrives to two of my 1000's any recomends on controllers?

Actually,, I don't really have a preference.  Almost all 1000 controllers were slap-on-the-side, so one that offers a pass-thru is really useful.  One of the other users here (Shaf) gave me his A1000 gear, and among it was a controller by Comspec that aledgedly autoboots and supports KS 3.1...  I have not gotten a chance to try it yet.

I would love to get a hold of a Phoenix Mobo replacement for the 1000 - this is one of the few ways I know of to get an internal SCSI controller and keep the 1000 looking totaly stock.

For nostalgia, my favorite controller was the PaloMax, which was a homebrew ISA RLL controller interface and driver.  It was slow and could never autoboot, but it was all I could afford back then (and it used MFM/RLL drives!)

Realisticly, the easiest thing to get for a 1000 now is a Microbotics Starboard with the SCSI option.  I see these somewhat frequently on eBay, and even see some online sellers list them from time to time.

A few guys in germany (50 I believe) got together and managed to get Phoenix to build a few extra boards (50). They were totally complete and sold for (i believe) 200 euro's. The board was complete except for the C= chips which you could pull from your A1000.... Maybe this is an idea for you? Get together a few guys that want one and get a brand spanking new one?

I am one of the actually 37 freaks ordering the new Phoenixboards.

One of the members of the german board amiga-news.de organized the deal. The boards are being prepaid. So far, 5 have been delivered from Australia. But please be aware that both our "Project Manager" are pretty busy doing this deal, so they have no time spare (for organizing more boards, for example ;) ).

That means, that the designer, Andrew Wilson, still has to do a lot to meet our  order. After that you should have no problem to order from him:

Its a great piece of Amiga history!

Have fun,
