OS probs.
« on: February 25, 2005, 03:59:13 AM »
OK, I got a tricked out A4000T but really need to wipe it and restart.  Problem, My OS 3.9 CD stops half way through instalation every time!!!!!

Some one in my users group said there was a batch of disks with bad install scripts and this might be one. The CD is clean of scratches so it's not that and the drive reads other cds just fine.

Is there any words of wisdom on this?

Perhaps you should ask this question at the forum of Haage & Partner, who wrote OS 3.9?

Although it's a German forum, you can ask your questions in English as well...

If you have a PC, you could try ripping the CD and re-burning it... maybe its the drive in the amiga not likeing the disk.

Hi,

disks with bad install scripts

This reminds me something. Does it stop always at the same line? It should say something like "error at line ...".
Anyway, read the install script, it's pretty easy to read and do each step manually.

I had similar problem with 3.5 and installed everything by hand. The 3.9 installation needed some help, too as some Classes didn't got installed by default.

Good question, it ALWAYS stops at the same place.  Does the same thing when I try just the Internet software too.

BUT!  it doesn't give an error code, it just hangs.

Its probably the CD disk....
I had the same problem with my OS 3.9 disk.
I had bought it a Software Hut. I called them and
they sent me another disk. The new disk worked fine.
I beleave the first disk they sent was a bad copy.
