help with a4k and picaso 4

hello from mexico.

i have in my dear a4000 desktop picasso4, but the hd i think is dead. i'm waiting for the wb 3.1 that i buy to a friend, because i losed the diskettes...

the question is: somebody with picasso4 can help me and tell me if i can put the wb 3.1 in a new hd, without a monitor in the 23 pin video out? i only have a vga monitor.

Hi koper,

the picasso IV has a scadoubler, so assuming that it is connected properly (i.e. in the video slot in case it is snapped from the rest of the card) you will get picture on the vga monitor (connected to the picasso) to do the install of wb3.1.

well, i have the picasso4 connected in the slot z3 that is near the ram of the motherboard.
i think is where it is better, or not?

reading your answer... i have to get a wire to connect pic4 to 23 pin amiga video? or now my config can run?

If you are using a monitor with the Amiga 23pin connector, you
should have no problem installing WB3.1 using the native
screenmodes connected to the 4000.  Installing the picassoIV
card doesn't disable the native screenmodes.  If it is a VGA
monitor, then it should already have the proper connector for
the picassoIV plug.  You can get an adapter cable to
connect a 23pin Amiga Monitor to the SVGA connector in the
picassoIV if needed.  BTW, I believe the video slot is the
very bottom slot (which passes the native modes to the PIV).

Try this: Turn on the amiga (the vga monitor plugged in the picasso), and hold both mouse buttons. You should get the early boot menu, if you do then the picasso is correctly connected and passes the native screenmodes to the vga monitor.

Vivo a Londres pero viajé a Mexico en Diciembre hasta Enero antes viajé a Guatemala y despues a Cuba. Regresé a Inglaterra ahora. Fui a Ciudad de Mexico, Oaxaca y Chiapas pero no Yucatan. Quizas proxima vez viajo a Mexico puedemos encontrar se... disculpe por mi Español malo... estudio para dos semanas solomente!
