How about this setup?
« on: February 22, 2005, 08:34:54 PM »
Hate to fill up this section with another "HOW ABOUT THIS SYSTEM" question but im a complete noob too this emulation thing on winblowz

system im looking at is the following
(def. want AGA_o3o+ system emulated)

800mhz PentM with 1meg L2 cache
133FSB, Shared vram (ugh (max 48megs))
ram would def. be over 512megs

now would emulation be smoother under windows? or linux? (i see winuae up too .992 and linux is still .8's)

and what about using cedega or crossweaver for winside?
rebuild project: A2oooT/o4o_64mb/SSD180meg/kickflash/CG64/budda+catweasel/Custom PC_kard P3@6ooMhz ether+provoice (slackware box VNC\\\'d from AMiGA)

As one who uses both, I'd have to say the WinUAE is definitely faster than the E-UAE

Your machine specs are enough; yet It still isn't the real thing. Try moving windows whilst playing audio or accessing a disk and whatnot, and it will become obvious.

However I can play many of my old favorite games on the emulators with minimal problems.

Nice, Im happy

as for running multiple windows im sure it chokes/slug's( Isnt this a normal windowsOS feature) basiclly the machine would be only amiga when it was in use (full screen)

Now im wondering whats the difference between E-UAE and UAE as far as speed (Since E-UAE is based off WinUAE and UAE is nix developed)

so with the above setup everything should run smoothly

Hi,
binjinx,
It would be interesting to know.
I imagine you’ll choose xp (if your going for loads of ram) and winuae will run fine.
As for Linux, it is supposed to be 4 x faster than windows but that speed might not show though to the Amiga workbench…

Is it possible for you to test both setups?

@Fransexy_
Yeah I remember playing that…
And, great to see you’re upholding the sites tradition of totally diverting the original tread.
 :-)

Yes that is true, This is also in my sig, But due to what looks like board restrictions to the size of sig`s, It has been truncated, Cut off.

Btw: I still play Parasol Stars even now, Much more than i play Rainbow Islands.
