jabberwocky problem!
« on: February 27, 2003, 06:37:29 PM »
Does any one know how to setup (or even if it is possable) Jabberwocky to go via a proxy?

Basically I have my Amiga connected to the house LAN which is served with internet access with a Wintek machine acting as proxy. With Ibrowse and Voyager I can connect to the net by setting up the proxies, but I can'tfind any settin gin Jabber that will allow me to do this. I am using Genesis as my TCP/IP stack.

Cheers!!

@mike_amiga

er thanks ;-)

I take it then that there is no way of doing it? Shame because I really only use my PC for MSN and ICQ these days. Would have been nice to move all my net activitiy over to me Amiga...

Ahh well, back to reading all the bitch fighting in latest Pegesos thread, quite sad really.

It looks great.  Okay, for my dumb ?  When you are done, will this work like jabberwocky?   Meaning I will be able to I.M. using others.  I saw AOL, so I am guessing that one will be able to use that.

Thanks,

@Slash

Looks v.cool!!

If you ever want a beta tester let me know! BTW will it have proxy support?

I'll be happy to host it on my amiga server if you wanted as well.

Thanks for your kind words everybody, I didn't think it would get any interest :-)

@Warrent

Not quite sure when the final version will be released but I'm at a point where beta release are going to be put out soon.

As for other I.M, yeah, this version will initially have support for AOL/AIM and MSN. Whats the other one? ICQ? Well I think StrICQ is a good enough client so no point in adding that. I only wrote this because there was either no support for a protocol or if there was the interface was butt-ugly.

Proxy support shouldn't be too hard.

Anyone wanting to be beta test please send an email to:

messenger@thesnakepit.demon.co.uk

Thanks!!

@Slash
Are you using parts of the open source Jabber code for the protocol suppport?

Hi

That client looks great :-)

BTW thanks again for that networking code you sent me (on the amiga-c list) the other day, I haven't had chance to have a play yet, but it looks like just the kind of example I was looking for :-D

@JoNty:

Nope, I don't think Jabberwocky works like that. This protocol is talking directly to the MSN/AOL services, Jabberwocky connects to it's own servers which I think does some or all of that work for you.

Might be wrong mind, I haven't looked at the Jabberwocky source.
