I have two of those... I bought one with my c64 and got one with my amiga and both of them still works to this date. I have heard alot of people bragging about the competition pro joysticks, but i didnt have much luck with those. The problem i had with the competition pro, was that the buttons had a tendency to get stuck after a while.

Ha, that's the first time I've ever heard those joysticks mentioned. They are good. I've got a pair - the only joysticks I ever had for my Amiga - and I think they were the cheapest joysticks available at the time.

I broke one years ago and can't find a replacement.

YEAH i hear you bro zipstick lasted longest and was quality all the way my second would be as to date ps2 controller for all the cd32 games :-D

Funny that this should come up, I've been messing around with a lot of old joysticks lately, trying to find the best one.      I've just bought a 'Beeshu Ultimate Superstick' off ebay; haven't tried it out yet but it looks to be a sweet stick.  I would love to get my hands on a Tac-2, but I can't find one anywhere.  I'll also probably get a Competition Pro pretty soon, and I have a Wico Command Control coming in the mail as well.

For the past few days I've been using an Epyx 500XJ (aka Konix Speedking), which is fairly precise.  I find the diagonals are kind of hit-or-miss, though.  I've also been using 'The Boss' ocassionally- pretty well engineered stick, but it has too much travel for most games.  A Genesis/Megadrive joypad is always a nice choice for Amiga games as well, particularly for titles that use two fire buttons.  

I never had much luck with the Slik Stik-- although it worked well, I found them to be too fragile.  I must have broken 3 or 4 of those things back in the day, although I might have been playing Boot Camp/Combat School on the C64 at the time.

A couple years ago I saw on Ebay some Amiga joysticks I wish I could find again. They were SlikStik-like (not "flight" type), but had a taller shaft that looked like chromed metal. The case was light blue and I think the button was yellow or white.

Man, those joysticks looked solid! Does anybody know what they were?

I always used the Quickshot II back in the day. After leaving the commodore (and selling everything) I dedcided it would be fun to have an amiga again. So I bought a second hand set. Since I only used a simple joystick called 'the arcade'. I think it is the top joy and have been harvesting them to have a replacement when one breaks. Only one has broken so far so 5 of them are waiting in the basement :-P (they are a dutch product!)

Pretty rare outside the Netherlands I believe, but man you could abuse them! Remember Decathlon on the Atari 2600? That ruined many a joystick in those days, but no, not the arcade.
Actually one adverts once said it was sturdy enough to slam a nail in the wall. Tried it and it worked. And so did the joystick after that!

I'm not a gamer at all, but those Suzo "The Arcade". was bundled with the A1000 when i purchased it (used) in 1996.

I vote for the latest of the PacMan series (formely know as Tomahawk) by Aneroussis Control. I have never seen a PacMan break no matter what one did to it. The guy who made them (in Athens) also built arcade game cabinets, so you can understand where the PacMan's parts came from

I also like the Quickshot 2 Turbo but it's reliability was pathetic (as with all Quickshots).

Oh btw, Competiton Pro joysticks were cheap-ass CRAP!!! (flamebait! bring 'em on boys!)

I liked the shape and feel of the Quickshot 2 Turbo but was disappointed when it broke within a week.  I got a replacement which also broke pretty quickly.  I took it apart and was horrified that it was designed to break.  One of the arms that pushed the spring to operate the microswitch had a clear plastic cover in order to stress the spring further.  Of course this microswitch failed first.  Needless to say I demanded a refund.

I liked the Competition Pro 5000.  I have several and my oldest one is at least 15 years old (geez I'm getting old) and still going strong.  I bought this as I understood they used standard microswitches which could be easily replaced.  I never had to buy replacements.

I did break a CP 5000 once though.  I used to play Kick Off2 for hours.  I would regularly get frustrated and whack the stick.  Well, I did it one too many times and snapped the top plastic shell.  I was gutted as it was a special Scotland World Cup edition too.   :pissed:
