I've been playing with Quarktex for a little bit now. Payback is nearly flaweless & flies with all options on. The only drawback with Payback is the Paula audio is so-so. Quake II loads and even plays the intro, but crashes right before the game itself launches, Wb screen come up with a ghosted out suspend/reboot prompt. Strangly none of the W3D demos run right.

Has anyone here gotten Quake II to run properly on WinUAE? What other games? I'm thinking of trying GLQuake and Freespace next.

Quarktex really is nice, I hope it gets some updates. Anyone know if the author is still working on it?

Quake II won't even install for me under WinUAE.  I get strange
read/write errors on the CD, it starts asking for the AmiTCP
volume and so forth.  Did you use any tricks to get it to install
for you?

Quake 2 works for me, but I think you must not install the latest update.
I'm surprised, the W3D-Demos do not work but Payback does. Sadly I have only one gfx-card to test this :-(
I'll get a 6800 soon - if it has the same problems, I'll fix it.

I got the exact same problem, had me cursing;-) Here's how I got around it.

Create a new HDF about MB, format it and name it Quake2. Now copy the entire contents of your PC Quake CD to this new HFD.

Next rename your RAMdisk to Q2Ami, and copy your Hyperion Quake2 CD to it.

Finally download and extract the Quake2 68K installer update from Hyperion's webiste. After installation I also installed the update, but from this thread the update may be my problem.

Let me know how it goes for you, I'd be curious to know.

As far as GLQuake goes I have not gotten it to run under any circumnstances whatsoever... it simply crashes when started, under WinUAE, real AMiGA or whatever else there is. I think I've tried to get it running like 10-15 times or so, even with support from know-howers... but still with no luck.
Amiga 1200, Mirage Tower, PC-Key 1200, Blizzard 1260/50, SCSI Kit, 256MB RAM, 40GB HD, Mediator SX, Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 3 and Realtek 8139.

@redrumloa: If I can reproduce the problem (and I really hope, I will be able to do so with my 6800) it will of course be updated.

@Panthro: What exactly is not working for you?

Several years back (5?) I used to play GLQuake(68k) on an 060/Prometheus based A3000 and it was pretty impressive. IIRC I used to get ~22-25FPS. Unfortunately it's been to long to remember if I had any problems with setup. I tried installing GLQuake more recently on a PPC Amiga and it simply would not run.
