TFT Monitor
« on: February 07, 2005, 12:52:27 PM »
We're thinking about getting a decent TFT monitor to replace this 14" CRT.  We only really need one to go to a resolution of 1024*768.

What do I need to know about them before I buy one?  What kind of stats should I be looking at?

We have a NVidia GeForce FX 5200 btw.

Get a low Response time! Anything below 16ms is pretty good.

I saw one at 30ms for just over £100 somewhere, but I had no idea if that was good or not :-)

Got a Samsung SyncMaster here! Has worked like a charm for over four years. Excellent image quality, even on VGA, and a very low response rate.

30ms!!! AVOID, you'd struggle to view any moving image on that...

As I said, anything bellow 16ms is pretty good.

How good is a Samsung 510N? It's 15" which is what we're looking for too.

--edit--

16ms response too I think.

Well, the Samsung 510N 15" with 16ms response is being sold for £190 in Argos, which means I'll be able to find it cheaper elsewhere :-P

But the question is...

Will I still be able to play HL and Diablo on it? :-D
