Terminal sotware for OS4
« on: February 05, 2005, 10:41:43 PM »
High guise ! long time no post !

my problem - I do standby for a system running on UNIX at work. trouble is, I have to do my checks via a dodgy OS (NT4) over dialup and its dreadful version of Telnet !

what I wanna do is connect using my A1.

I can easily dial up and look at our intranet, and the apache server running on my UNIX system.

Trouble is, I cant find Amiga Terminal software that uses TCPIP rather than proprietary dialers - I have to log on to our firewall, and there is no direct dial in to the UNIX box, so that would rule those out. any ideas ?

I'll try to frequent AO more often, even when AW comes back ! :-D

@Agafaster:

I am not 100% sure I understood you correctly here, but if what you are looking for is a telnet-client (TCP/IP terminal software), you can download the AmiTCP 4.0 Demo archive and in its 'bin' folder you will find 'napsaterm' which is a quite good telnet-client.

Hmm you could use Amtelnet on amigaos or putty on windoze which are both excellent for telnet. But i think amtelnet was commercial iirc.. but as far as i know theres even a commandline telnet client included in the amitcp package..

Does dctelnet work on OS4? I've used it on my Pegasos and it works ok for me. I think it is available on aminet.

I've just copyied the install from the A4000 (with AOS3.9) of DCTelnet and ran it under AmigaOS 4. It opened
it's own screen and a requester appeared that it needs ibmcon.device . So I copyied this file as well to my AmigaOS4:Devs/ drawer.
Ran it again and it works fine. Even I am connected now to Uphold The Law. Yes, it is available on Aminet - here.

P.S. Also Starwars ASCIIMation works fine.
