OpenGL on Amiga Forever/WinUAE, what games?
« on: February 05, 2005, 03:12:24 PM »
Maybe you guys can save me some legwork. I know AmigaForever/WinUAE has built in OpenGL support, but I havn't tried it out yet. Is it automatic or does it require additional software(like miniGL)? I seem to remember there being an option in the WinUAE requestor to select for OpenGL, but I don't see it in the newer version of WinAUE.

On top of that, what games support it? I'm thinking GLQuake, but I can't think of any others :-?

I believe the OpenGL option you're talking about in WinUAE is simply to use OpenGL to render the Amiga Graphics, not anything to do with Amiga 3D Accelerated Games, for them to work you need something like QuarkTex
Slightly bored and severly confused..

@redrumloa:

The download link on the QuarkTex page worked fine here. Try this link and see if it works for you. If not - try another browser.

Thanks, i found it on another website.. I have it installed now, but Warptest
is a mess... I must have some poor settings in WinUAE.

Suggestions?

-Edit-

I don't need a full Warp3D installation, do I? The installation
indtructions really doesn't specify.

@redrumloa:

You are quite right - if I recall correctly, you should make sure to have no previous Warp3D files in LIBS: or settings in ENVARC: or ENV: and then just copy the QuarkTex Warp3D.library to LIBS:. Also don't forget the to put the QuarkTex.alib in the right location on the Windows side of things.

Bahumbug, still picky. I have Quarktex.alib in the winuae_dll folder
that I just created. Warptest gives me an image but it's a mess.
The other Warp3d demos aren't working. At the moment I have
020+FPU selected for CPU, I wonder if this is the problem. Maybe
needs 040?

Still no good, maybe it just doesn't like my video card? I have
a Geforce FX 5700LE..

@redrumloa:

Yeah, it is possible that it doesn't like your graphics card, even if it is a bit strange considering that it is using a generic API on the windows side. It is "working" here with my Geforce4MX both with 040 and 020+FPU. With "working" I mean that it works, but it has a bit buggy refresh of the graphics and it only shows graphics in fullscreen modes.

Umm, wow.. Ok so Warp3D demos do not work.. But Payback sure does!

*WOW*

In 16bit Warp3D mode, 640x480 & rotating view it's far too fast to
be playable! Now to try a higher resolution..

-Edit-
Oh boy..
16bit Warp3D 1280x1024 w/rotating view and shading is still far
far too fast to be playable..

Anyone know how to slow down Payback:-?

Trooper
Rainbow Islands: \\"The game is sometimes called \\"Bubble Bobble 2\\". However, two other games --\\"Bubble Symphony: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2\\" and \\"Bubble Bobble 2\\"-- claim the same name. Rainbow Islands happens after Bubble Bobble. Bubble Symphon...

@Trooper

It's not doing it anymore, I think it was a fluke. Plays much faster than it ever did on my CS-PPC
Voodoo 3 ever did. Sound isn't perfect thouugh, the only drawback.
