Hmm, that exclamation works on several levels...

Legal or not, I think there should be some sort of contentious objection clause when it comes to declining a particular job. That's not to say one should be able to get all silly and refuse anything that comes along on the ground you can't be arsed to work or anything.

However, categories of work that some people may find a direct offront to their personal dignity/safety or morally unnaceptable need to be reasonably considered. Simply saying "humping complete strangers for cash is legal, so do it or we stop any benefits" is absurd IMHO.

Wow... they get better unemployment benefits than Americans.

Here it's 50% of your average wage for the past year, and it lasts 6 months.

Why can't she just take the job and then report anyone who tries to pressure her into having sex for sexual harassment?  :-P It would be like being a Maytag Repairman!

Here in Sweden, we've had a few cases with nude modelling, but prostitution?!?!?! :-o

We've had similar cases here in the media when long term unemployed women have been quizzed as to why they didn't take a job at topless bars / artists nude models etc.

Besides, topless bars are way overrated.  The rain kept getting in my beer...

umm...wow.. Can't believe I actually just read that.. Truly frightening. I can't even get myself top poke humor at that. I'd probably lean towards legalised prostitution, but forcing women into it? :shocked:


BTW what's to stop from forcing straight men to work in the gay sex industry?

Going back o/t it seems quite outrageous to me that any government can expect someone to take on a job that might be offensive to their sense of morality.

However, seeing as politicians seem to lack any sense of morality we shouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised.

Well, during the EMU-elections last summer, there was plenty of nay-sayers who were forced to hand out flyers for the yes-campaign. :-)

Still, this is a tricky case. I therory, she'd have to take the job, but noone can be forced to sexual intercourse, as that would be rape.

It's alike if someone is forced to serve in military
such jobs violate one's body,
so these should be treated differently

Yeah. Though military service will always be treated different, as it's for "the greater good of society". Something, which prostitution isn't! ;-)
