Blizzard 1230 IV - Help
« on: February 25, 2003, 12:40:45 PM »
I have a Blizzard 1230 IV but the last time i used it the computer it was in broke, power surge i think, well i am trying to get it to work in another A1200 but all i get is a black screen, so can someone answer these questions for me please?

1) Is there a minimum amount of ram required to get the card to work?

2) Does the A1200 standard psu have enough guts to be able to power both?

My last A1200 had a A500 psu and it worked fine untill it broke of course, i hope it aint fried.

It works also without any SIMM, although it runs much slower. When I bought my 1230, for some time I was using it without Fast Ram.

It should be enough.

Have you tried changing the psu?

1) I'm not sure if it has to have RAM on it in order to function.  However, it is a good idea to have some on there anyway.

2) Yes.

The standard a1200 psu is crap. There is a good chance that you could get your beloved machine back to life just to replace the psu with a 500 psu.

The Blizzard 1230IV has a pin in one side. This pin is to choose either a 60 millisecond simm or a 70 millisecond simm is plugged to the card.
Maybe thats the prob!
If you config the card for 60 millisecond simm and you dont have a simm at all, then you might have a problem!
Try that, and if it doesn't work i'll find the manual of my Blizzard to work things out ok?

Good Luck! ;-)

Uh, just a thought.

Before I got my Blizzard 030 IV, I had an Apollo 1230LC and when I first installed it all I got was a black screen, I then did the motherboard timing fix on my 1d.4 mobo and it all worked fine.

What mobo do you have ?
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!
