I would be more interested in stability/data corruption during heavy load ...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

I just assume they are very fast.  :-) No matter what, they are faster than what we are used to.

I assume its bl00dy quick, given reports of G4s and Altivec units, etc.
especially, as you say Warface, compared to wot were used to.
And it aint that quick. cos its still gonna take 4 days to get into the UK from Taiwan !

Why regularly? They're not likely to change over time :-)

My A1 G3-SE runs at 600MHZ  :-)

There is no problem with Linux (running Debian with KDE desktop at the moment)

MOL is fantastic. MacOS9.2.2 runs at a very good speed indeed.

I have no figures for you tho I'm afraid

I'm still waiting for some one to post what the UAE performance is like on the A1-XE G4's

Some benchmarks that have been posted suggest that you get twice the frame rate out of a 800Mhz g4 compared to an Duron at 1200Mhz

Some people have noticed that A1 does some things faster than P4@2.4Ghz.

What is the point in asking these questions now?

Any hardware should be 100% stable on its own, it's the operating system and software that is the question!

It's a bit like saying "how stable/fast are PCs?" then judging it by using a buggy beta of Win95 as the software you're going to test it with...

In case anyone on this thread doesn't realise, the AmigaOnes are running PPC Linux, not any release of AmigaOS.

The only worthwhile questions are about AmigaOS4.  What are its minimum specs?  How well does it run on those quoted minimum specs? How stable is it?  How responsive is it?  How quickly does it boot?  etc.

(NB: there shouldn't be ANY data corruption/stability issues under heavy load!  I don't know what people have come to expect from their computers these days...)

@mikeymike

Absolutely right.  Until we get AOS4 on it, it's a bit pointless.

However, for the record...

My A1 has been up for 26 days since last reboot (and that was to change the graphics card). KDE 3.1 was n't happy at times, but was killed okay.

OpenOfficeOrg (not exactly famous for being nippy) runs faster (subjectively) than on my 800Mhz P3s. Quake seems a little speedier too. (although 3D under Linux is bleugh)

Even if AOS4 is duff, it'll be a lot quicker than on a 68060.  And it won't be duff. I can't wait :)
