New problems with Blizzard 040 & Amiga 1200
« on: January 19, 2005, 01:07:29 PM »
Hi!! im having new problems with another machine...
This one is a Escom 1200 (bought it from Software Hut a couple of years ago in mint condition) and a Blizzard 1240.
The machine used to work perfect, until one day. Suddenly, after i connected to a 1942 monitor, the machine freezed, refused to boot again
I took out the accelerator card, the machine boots but it takes up to 5 minutes! To load WB!!!
The configuration is this: Amiga 1200, Blizzard 1240 with 16 megas, HD 2 gigas, Eide buffered interface and an external scandoubler which was used hooked to a 14ยดยด pc monitor until i got the 1942.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

If it has worked flawless until now then I bet you have to clean every connection on it.  :-)
Mainframe: Amiga 3000 Tower, CSPPC233/060, 144+2MB, 36GB UW, Prometheus, Voodoo5 5500, 10Mbit, 24xCDr, OS 4.0 ....Amiga since 1987.

If it works without the 040 try booting it with only the 040, getting to the early startup menu would suffice.

If that works it's a power supply problem, solved by getting a bigger psu.  Although if it's not towered (you don't mention) it can be tricky to get a better psu.

Well, the machine is NOT towered. I had it working with no problems for more than 1 year. Suddenly, after the episode i nebtuibed, i powered on and just black screen. If i take the accelerator out of the machine, the machine will rund, but taking up to 5 minutes to load wb!! Thats strange and i dont know why it takes soooo long! Its an Escom 1200, and the only things i have are the Eide 4 buffered interface, and the hdd. Of course im using the original PSU...

Perhaps there is a software failure causing validating the HD - can you see the LED glow/does the HD whirr all the time?
