True, but they forget about the disk unit of the C=64 (if one's lucky enough to have one)

it looks a better machine than the Atari all-in-one anyway IMHO.

It also offers a virtual keyboard in the rom (joystick controlled) and you can get to basic..

Thats the first time i've seen it onsale in the UK.

It seems strange to me that QVC had exclusive rights to sell them in the USA, but QVCUK don't even stock it.

Which makes me suspicious of gadgets.co.uk.  Are they just selling the NTSC version which they have bought from the states?  They are selling em for 30quid, so if/when QVC sell the PAL version, it'll be a lot cheaper probably.

I picked one up in November from QVC for $27 on special.  Very cool to watch the 64 boot from the joystick.  Had so much fun I bought a 64 portable from EBay to play with....now I've got some cartridges.  Some of the old games hold up very well.

Yes they were commodore even made a game console that just used the c64 cartridges.

I remember playing Flimbo's quest on it in Tandy (Radio Shack) and thinking to myself "Why the hell have commodore released this machine when they are selling the A500 at the same time?"

It was stupid business decisions like that the led to the final nails in the coffin in 1994.

Does it work in America?  Meaning, NTSC compatible?  If not, that would suck a lot.  I would have to just use it on my 1084S monitor.

They state at the bottom of the page these are NTSC units.

QVC have distribution rights for North America ONLY.  The worldwide distribution rights are owned by a UK company, though I forget their name.

If memory serves correctly, it's supposed to start shipping in March to the rest of the world.

Currently, only the NTSC version is available.  The PAL version is due out soon, and rumors are floating around that different games are included.

The US exclusive QVC deal ended in 2004.  You can now find them for ~$20 at KB Toys stores, and possibly other locations.

Distribution for the UK and the rest of the world is exclusive to the toy:lobster company.

And do remember, that you can solder in an IEC serial port (for floppies) and a PS/2 connector for a ps/2 keyboard.
