Good cold war flicks?

1.  "Ice Station Zebra" is my top pick on this subject.  Made in early 60's, it starts Rock Hudson, Ernest Borgnine and Patrick McGoohan (sp?).  Very good cold war flick that shows (in my opinion) the "political mood" of the era.  The IMDB link is:

Red Dawn is a good film? :lol: Even Rambo III was more realistic.

Stick to movies that are at least a little realistic, like this Graham Greene classic, Our Man in Havana.

Imagine Red Dawn, but the Russians offer everyone the chance to participate in fake elections so they could "choose" a puppet regime. Everyone would have been happy and welcome them with showers of rose petals. Then those nasty "anti-American" terrorists, insurgents and dead enders would have got what's coming to them. :-D

It was actually called "Letter to Brezhnev" and starred Margi Clarke.  

No-one's mentioned "The Final Countdown", which audaciously pits a time-travelling nuclear carrier against the imperial Japanese Navy.  The dogfight scene between two F14 Tomcats and 2 A6M Zeros was a brilliantly done piece of aerial photography.  It's not strictly 'Cold War' but portrays the mood of the late 1970's quite well.

I have to say, you have superb taste in movies, especially enemy at the gate and das boot :-)
