The standard scart question

I have my soldering iron and schematic, and am ready to build an a1200 to SCART cable. Trouble is, I have tried Maplin and RS (UK), but don't seem to be able to find a 23-pin female D connector. Am I blind (i.e. They do have the connectors I just don't know what I'm looking for) or do they not sell this item?
Any help would be appreciated.

I think you may need a male connector not a female one.

You need male connectors on both ends.

You used to be able to pick up a/v - scart leads a while ago that would do the job, but I haven't seen any for a while.

Would this do it?  It's a lot more expensive than making it yourself, but should work - I might be getting one soon.

That would to to composite video and audio out to SCART, but looking at your post again I've noticed you want to use the other video out.  I think I've read somewhere that this is a very rare connector that only Commodore used, though I'll check.

Here it is - it's from a guide on Aminet on how to tower an A1200.

Then you probably could have  problems looking for a female and a male 23pin connector for the video port, because it's not a standard and only Commodore (grr!!) used it for a computer.  Even if you will find it it's almost impossible you'll find it also crimpable like the othe ones...

...for the video port problem I  didn't do anything because  I didn't  find any connector yet.

Is there any technical reason why you cannot use the composite video output?

Im not sure if any of you have seen the Amiga video connector but if you had , youd notice that the Amiga connection is male and that you need a 23pin Female connector to scart. ( I assume you all know the difference between male and female right ?

Also all this talk of composite ...why ? if youd ever used it youd know its not an option to even concider when you can have nice rgb output, the image quality just cant be compared .

Ok i have 2 of this cables

(AMIGA RGB to SCART)

I have bought them in an electronics shop
(Years before :-) )

But you will build it your own and have no
23pin sub D connector take a 25 and modify it a bit

23 Way D-Type are a rare beast indeed these days.

From recollection I believe they are available from either Farnell or RS components. Even then, only in multiples of 5.

You could try Toby also (toby.co.uk) If they don't do them, no one will - They sell nothing BUT connectors and have a catalogue bigger than the Maplin one. Not sure if buying small quantities is accepted by them though?
