Act as next of kin

Greetings,

Ever had one these email before? Just want to share it to you.

Subj: ACT AS NEXT OF KIN
Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2005 11:20:31 -0300 (GMT-03:00)

I Am Mr.Prince Obaseki, in charge of bills and foreign
exchange remittance Department of Lead Merchant Bank
PLc. I am writing you this letter to ask for your
support and co-operation to carry out this business
opportunity in my department. We discovered an
unclaimed sum of $24.5Million (Twenty-four million
five hundred thousand dollars) in an account belonging
to one of our customer, who died in a plane crash with
the entire family in year 2001.
Since we got information about his death we have been
expecting his
next of kin to come over and claim his money.
Unfortunately, neither the family nor the relation has
appeared to claim this money. We cannot release this
money unless somebody applies as the next of kin or
relation to the deceased. Our banking guidelines
indicated that if such money remained unclaimed for a
period of four (4) years, it would be transferred into
the Lead Merchant Bank Treasury as unclaimed fund.
Another officer and I in the department now decided to
transfer this money into your account as the next of
kin or relation of the deceased for easy collection
since nobody is coming for it and we dont want this
money to go back into the bank treasury as the
unclaimed debt. Infact it is my friend that advised me
to urgently arrange to transfer out this money through
another foreign beneficiary outside the country. We
have decided to give you 15% of the total sum. So
please, as a matter of urgency send to me your
telephone and fax numbers for effective communication.
I will do my best to see that we conclude this
transaction successfully on time. Please if you are
intrested send me an immediate mail so that I can
explain the details to you to understand everything
about this business Waiting for your urgent response
Regards,

Prince O-------

I think Wilse started a thread about this spam a while back.  He wrote an amusing reply too :-)

Wilse's reply to that 419 mail was an absolute piece of art to read. Truly one of the funniest things I read last year.

You might be able to find it again with google's cache. That's worked once or twice for me in the past.

I have written a few replies (whilst at university during long waits for temperature-sweep NMR experiments to run) to various 419ers myself. You can tell them all sorts of crap before they eventually twig you are yanking their chain.

Of course, it's is an official sport for some :-D

At one stage I used to send them a reply with a zipped document detailing all my finances. Silly me, the attachment was usually 2mb and was just garbage. I used to be very itchy with the send button too, and they usually got several emails from me until their box was full. Can't be bothered to do it these days though.

Hmmm, I think it would be funny if the file were from some obscure finance software, say for the Amiga   , with instructions (or a link to instructions) on how to set up WinUAE and the finance software to be able to read the file. Think of the time wasted.  :-P

@ Bloodline

I'm going to try that one! Perhaps I'll attach some really large files that decompress to ads for haemmorhoid cream or Deflatine, something like that.
