Of course you probably already knew.

Click if you must

be sure to snoop around a little.

Killer weeds man.

Killer weeds.

Just remember that.

They are here: they are all around us man!

Killer weeds!      :-o

No just kidding.
Just thought it was interesting that this OS has also went into a deal with the same people that Hyperion went into a deal with.

That's all.
Nothing special.   :-P

Nothing special ?? :-o

Well, it's another OS, that's quite a big deal ;

I really wonder how are those guys gonna sell their stuff... I mean my 1st guess is : To launch such a project takes either a LARGE dose of insanity, OR big balls and maybe both.

The fact that Amiga OS is routinely reffered to as a landmark is quite cool.

PS - as for killer weeds, I'm learning their language and will soon make it my thing.

I put the OS on windows 2000.
It was pretty kewl.

Not much there though.

PacMan game is pretty nice if you make it through a couple of stages.

IIRC Athene was never going to be an Amiga OS replacement, the creator just liked the look and feel of the Amiga OS GUI. They've had a download for some time now, seems they update it from time to time..

Looks like they will release a commercial version this year... Note it only looks like Amiga or M$ Windows, it doesn't run the programs of these OSes.. (yet ?)

I run it over WinXP.
Nice look, fast enough but also NEW enough...
The good thing is that they have a downloadable demo.
Its easier for people to "meet" this new os.
I wish that Amiga Inc. could do the same thing... :python:

Well the fact that they spelt Amiga "Omega" isnt that much of a comfort, and if it doesnt run Amiga/Windows programs then whats the point?

If it could run Amiga and Windows programs all on one box then yes I'd be VERY interested.  :-D

That's only so they don't infringe on A inc's copyrights - thats why they don't call the other one "Windows" :-)

It won't run Amiga or Windows programs as that's not the point of it - the only reason that it looks like the AmigaOS GUI is that it's a nice GUI.  I guess someone could port UAE, but there would be virtually no users.

Well, there was a system that could do that called Amith...

Oh yes, I forgot, we cannot say it can we :-)

Unified Data Model
Powerful data recognition means that you don't need to worry about file-types such as pcx, jpeg, iff or png anymore. Any file format supported by Athene will apply to all programs that run in your desktop. Support for new file formats can be installed easily and instantly supported by all your programs regardless of their antiquity.

like our datatype system? :P

Multi-lingual Applications
The development of multi-lingual applications is made easier by storing the language definitions of an application in a script file, rather than compiling them into an executable. By easing the development of multi-lingual applications, international users can benefit from a wider variety of applications that support multiple languages. Software developers also benefit from this encouragement by reaching out to a wider audience. Full support for unicode is included so that international character sets can be displayed correctly.

like our locale system?

I think I like that OS :-) (and makes me eager for AmigaOS 4.0) ;-)

I'm not really sure what Athene is supposed to be used for. I downloaded it a while ago and played around with it. It installs on top of Windows.

I think AtheOS is much more interesting in the Amiga sense...
