Perhaps you posted just as your session expired? It's happened to me a few times :-)

To the best of my knowledge, no such post has been removed.  You might check your account.

What happens to the threads for the polls on the main page?  Do they dissapear into the great Abyss when the poll is removed?  Where do they go?
