I saw this on the German side of Amiga-news.de a few days ago. It looks pretty impressive, but the Zorro2 interface is going to be slooooooow...

Upon further examination, this thing has 16MB of RAM. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that out of the addressable range of the Zorro2 bus? Maybe by bypassing autoconfig it could work? Who knows, perhaps the board will fall back to 4MB in Zorro2 systems.

I hope this turns out to be more than vapor...

@Matt_H:

Yeah, falling back to a 4MB window to the AmiVD VRAM in Zorro2 mode would be the most sensible thing as using more Zorro2 address-space than 4MB would start to cut down on the compability with other expansions rather extensively. 16MB would be impossible even if autoconfig was bypassed as that is the total amount of adressable space (24-bit = 16MB) of the 68k localbus in a Zorro2-based machine.

Didn“t AHT Europe buy the rights for the Prometheus in order to produce their own range of Amiga cards ???

Found something :

"As of July 22nd, 2004, AHT Europe Ltd. and Matay signed an agreement providing licence rights for the PCI busboard Prometheus, developed by Matay for Zorro III Amiga systems.

The licence includes circuit diagrams, firmware source code, RTL8029 source code, prometheus.library source code, the programming device and developer documentation.

By this agreement, AHT Europe Ltd. acquires the right to freely modify and integrate the Prometheus design into new products."

and also :

"Ultra Spec will carry products for the 'classic' Amiga series of computers like the AmiVD graphics board, as well as the initial batch of A700 devices which is aimed at current and potential new Amiga developers for AHT Europe's new platform."

My thinking was the someone had found a an old crate with a couple of hundred Voodoo chips in it... These guys have bought them (cheap) and plan to use the old Prometheus chips to interface the PCI Voodoos to a Zorro bus all on one card.

so this "A700" has nothing to do with the amiga.. a zorro3 voodoo3 card sounds kewl though.. but would't one get a full version of the prometheus board for less than 149Eur? Anyway I hope it will be released some day..
