I haven't posted here in a while, and this partly reflects how time I have available to spend enjoying my Amiga is decreasing
I am contemplating selling my A1200 custom tower, though I don't know if anyone would want to buy it. So I thought I'd post here and get some opinions.
It's a modified PC tower case, that me and a friend did way back early last year. It needs some work, mainly just tidying it up and maybe adding holes for the LAN card etc, just minor things. It looks pretty good on the outside, and is perfectly usable, but maybe some enthusiast would like to finish it off and make it even better.
We basically created it using hacks and mods from the Aminet. It has an A2000 keyboard to go with it - a socket on the back of the tower, a PC floppy disk drive that is connected using a modified cable (following a guide we swapped over certain pins and it works very well!), a buffered IDE interface which has two identical 2GB drives connected to it and one CD-ROM drive, a Blizzard 1230-IV accelerator with 16mb RAM, and finally has an internal scandoubler (which is cooled with RAM-sinks and a fan which is bluetacked on; works surprisingly well!)
It's all powered by a PC AT power supply. It has Kickstart 3.0 but I have it working with OS3.9 by means of softkicking.
Also there is a 3Com Etherlink pcmcia card connected with a right-angle adaptor. I have tested it with Genesis and it works well online.
Most would probably consider it a slight bodge job, but maybe some enthusiast out there would like it.
If anyone's interested I can upload some pictures. I have no idea how it could be posted as it's pretty big, but I am just investigating the feasibility of selling this beast
