I'm a daddy
« on: January 05, 2005, 09:42:56 PM »
My wife gave birth to our first child (a baby girl) last night after a gruelling labour lasting 36 hours.  Mother and baby are both healthy but understandably a little tired.

We havent decided on a name yet, will most likely do that when my wife is discharged from the hospital, although I'm going to let her choose the name beause she did all the hard work.

I was discussing this very subject with my missus after she'd had a few beers last night (i was sober).  She is studying to be a midwife, and she was prattling on like women do about blokes not being able to take the pain they go through in child birth.  I pointed out that if men did indeed have to go through child birth, that we would suffer pain at all.

Not because we can tolerate it more, as I think women can take more pain than we ever could, but because we would have an epidural on the first contraction, morphine on an IV drip, all the gas and air we could get our hands on and any other drugs the hospital had available swigged down by a bottle of vodka.

Which proves my point "Men wouldn't suffer the pain of childbirth".  We too smart you see! :-D
