my new µ-a1 online!
« on: January 05, 2005, 04:23:39 PM »
I got my µ-A1-C today!
I had some problems with my LCD-monitor first and later with the network driver.
It seem that my LCD monitor cant handle the default screenmode(using 640x480x16 now) it just goes super bright.
so which program must I download now?
I have updated the OS to update 1 and soon to update 2.
using the IBrowse demo on update 1.
hdw:
µ-A1-C - OS4.0-PR-U2, 256MB || A1200D - NetBSD(part), 50MHz, 32MB RAM, 6GB HD || A600 -  OS2.4, 2MB RAM, 60MB HD  || 2xA600 - OS2.4 || AMD - FC3, 1GHz || VIA Mini-Itx - Debian, 533MHz || Aqua PS2

You didn't hear?  The A1 and OS4 are completely dead. Amiga and all the other companies went completely bankrupt.  All the current software owners are looking for new jobs.. I'll be happy to take that A1 off your hands though... :)

hehe...JK.. wish I knew what software to try on A1.  The fact I cant really answer the question is the main reason why I'm not trying to get one.

Thanks,

Neofree

@kvasarnomad:

Make sure you use the refresh-rate the LCD is designed for which in most cases will be 60Hz.

Congratulations mate! If you have problems post here on the official A1 forums on AW.net!

What LCD are you using? At the end of OS4 install process, it ask to you what mode you want to use as default one. Also with the right refresh rate.

Install the update 2 so you can enjoy moovid and USB mass storage (it is not the complete update2 but only a christams gift from Hyperion).

www.os4depot.net

If you want to have fun i suggest Freespace OS4 native, Quake1+Mods.. and very soon Quake2.

So Amiga OS 4 is out right now?

Wasn't much of a fanfare was there. That OS4depot site needs a
screenshot directory so us classic owners can drool over what's to
come.

It's exciting to see people already hard at work programming for
AmigaOne but there's got to be some 3D games and classic updates in
the pipeline to get me excited.

How about Deluxe Paint 6 or Alien Breed 3D 3!

:-)

Someone should pluck up the courage to port a license too, like
Clickboom did with Wipeout 2097 and Quake.

Big names attract pubicity!

Nice to see the Amiga being mentioned on the BBC website a day or two
ago after Yeahronimo bought Commodore for $27m. Tulip just didn't have
a clue.

If this Yeahronimo consortium have a bit of cash behind them, maybe
they could be to Hyperion what Commodore were initially to Amiga (i.e.
the rocket fuel needed for R&D).

MAME (along with MESS) was one of the first programs ported to OS4 and shown before the prerelease at the OS4Essen Event. UAE is also available in form of E-UAE.

No you are not wrong. Backwards compatibility is something vital for the AmigaOS 4 and it's being worked all the time, in one form or another.

@Hyperspeed
A lot of programs and games aer going to be ported. About games all Hyperion titles will be relesed OS4 native, Descent Freespace is already out. I hope to play Quake 2 and thene Quake 3 soon.

To be updated about OS4 and its software i suggest to visit also
www.intuitionbase.com ->compatible softwares, guides and more
www.amigaworld.net ->official A1 forums and news
www.amigaos.dk -> nice OS4 screenshots gallery like this one on Amiga.org. Amigaworld.net gallery has some bad limits.

MAME is available since time.
