Alright, I'm slowly getting back into the Amiga groove. I have this A4000 that I would like to add a CDROM drive to, but everything I have tried doesn't work.
The Amiga is a 4000D with Cyberstorm 060/50, 64MB on Cyberstorm, 16MB + 2MB on motherboard, 3.1 ROMs, and socketed Buster 9. I have a 1.2GB IDE hard drive with WB3.1 installed. I have tried to connect 2 different spare IDE CDROM drives up one at a time with my hard drive as master and CD drive as slave. It will boot into Workbench. I then installed the software from my Cyberstorm both the 060 libaries and SCSI utilities disks. The SCSI disk has a CD filesystem setup on it that I installed and tried to get to recognize the CDROM drives, but I never would recognize the drives.
When I boot with the drive connected I get no icon on workbench and when I try to select the CD0 volume, I get not a dos disk. When I boot without the CD drive connected, I get a CD icon on the screen with something like CD0:Bad.
My question is for the cheapest method to either setup one of my existing CD drives or which CD drive and software to use. I would like to be able to eventually get AOS3.9 (on CD therefore need CD access). I also need to be able to read CD's which I burned from my PC.
Thanks.
