IRCing
« on: February 21, 2003, 10:30:03 PM »
Hello

I`ve just changed ISP. Since then I haven`t been able to get onto #Amiga.org. I think its because it can`t resolve the DNS thing. I`m not an expert at anything to do with the internet. How do I get AmIRC to co-operate?

Tried using the IPs instead? irc.webchat.org wasn't letting me on, but I could get on through one of the IPs.

You mean type "/Server IP" ? Remember I`m not an expert. I use it, but don`t usually care about the advanced stuff.

If you do mean that, I`ve tried it. Didn`t work. Tried a few IPs.

Riiiiight.

Am I doing this right? cause that didn`t work either.

I try to join the channel.
It throws a wobbly.
I stop it.
Then I type "/server 216.152.64.62"

Yeah?

Surely somebody knows whats wrong? I`m not able to get onto the #amiga.org IRC channel. My usual channel. I could use the web interface thing, but its not as much fun as AmIRC. :cry:

One suggestion would be to download another client (like the freeware BlackIRC) and try that.  That way you can be certain whether it's AmIRC or your connection that is where the problem lies.  BTW which TCP/IP stack do you use?

Hmmm well BlackIRC doesn`t work. I think its just a network thing. This is so annoying!

I use MiamiDX. I used up until this new ISP, v3, but that didn`t want to connect. I`ll try to get v3 to connect and see if that gets things going.

@Uncharted

Cool your in Reading. I was there a couple of weeks ago. When I say "there", I mean passed through on the train. :-)
