Liberation CD32
« on: January 01, 2005, 04:14:48 PM »
Does the CD32 version of Liberation run on an A1200 with CD-ROM drive.
I thought it did but I've recently acquired a copy and it crashes when the game starts.

I have an Archos Overdrive CD-Rom. I've tried using the CD32 emulator but with no success.

My version of Liberation works fine with the CD32 emulator from the IDEfix97 archive.

Well the CD32 emulator works with other titles. Does Liberation require OS 3.1?

Also anyone else find the following probvlem with Beneath a Steel sky? It freezes upon selecting the file adjustment option in the Linc terminals.

I was able to run it from my Amiga CD32 w/SX-1 from Workbench 3.1

I also have run it from WINUAE from Workbench.  I used to know how to program those chip upgrades for maximum stats too but that was a long time ago...

I never did finish the game but it was a descent RPG.

A little off-topic but have you CD32 fans tried Wendetta?

It's almost like an unofficial sequel to Stardust!

I only played one archive of a tunnel stage but it was 2-player and
had a thumping soundtrack.

As for Liberation, what's it about? I never could get CD32 games
working on my Squirrel/Reno-CD combo.

BodyBlows worked though but animations never played.

I don't think so.  I seem to remember playing it on my 3.0 A1200.  I did have a bit of work getting it to run, but I've long since forgotten what happened.

Hmm.... lowlevel.library problem?  The CD32 used the NVRAM for load/save operations.  If you don't have the proper A1200 lowlevel.library and have it configured correctly, there will be problems with file operations in games.

The curious thing with Beneath a Steel Sky is that two versions (disk based OCS ones not CD32) did exactly the same. The game runs fine, using the linc terminals works, selecting security then special operations causes no problems. Then trying to select file adjustment causes it to freeze.

The entries in guruhistory (MCP) say someting about Illegal Address Access (i.e odd).

As for Liberation, it was from Ebay so it could be a bad Cd I suppose.

Thaks your help everyone.

Check the startup-sequence on the CD, it may do somethings in there that need to be done before the game is run.  I've run Liberation on WINUAE and from my SX-1, 3.1 install but forget the details.
