AGA 800x600x256 no ff/sd vga adapter
« on: December 31, 2004, 02:07:48 AM »
how can i get 800x600 on my sony svga monitor
the only screen mode that allows this is super72.
but the scan rate is not high enough so my svga mon
does not pick it up. it needs to be 31khz.

is is possible to get this without ff/sd hardware.?

A few VGA monitors will sync to 24KHz, and I don't think scandoublers will double Super72. So one of those compatible monitors I think is your only option these days. Unless you've got an old Multisync kicking around?

You will need the silver VGA adaptor regardless, however.

You could search Aminet for hacked monitor drivers. I think there was one which hacked one of the the DblNTSC, DblPAL or Multiscan drivers to a 7xx*5xx resolution which was still visible on a VGA monitor.

I am not sure but I think I remember that there was even a driver hack which was able to display 1024x768 resolution on a multiscan monitor.

Bye,
Thomas

There was indeed, but only multiscan. It never worked on scandoubler + SVGA setups. Pity, it would have been very nice with a flicker fixer...

Search the one with DoublePal Hires No Flicker. Works on every pc monitor and the quality is far better than the Pal on an Amiga monitor and speed is much higher than Multiscan and you can also use Overscan to make the size of your screen bigger which you can not do with Multiscan !!!!
Have fun  :-) And have a Happy New Year too
