Zorro base Ethernet Cards
« on: December 29, 2004, 07:41:53 PM »
I'm in the market for an ethernet card for an A4000.  Would prefer an x-surf but they appear to be gone.  I've got a used 2065 on hold but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any X-Surf cards....

A few days ago on Amibench, someone from Belgium was selling a X-surf for 80 Euro.  Might be still available.

Hi Bob,

I just checked the back room with my stock of Amigas and parts and I still have two brand new in the box X-Surf cards I never got around to using. They were part of a group of four I bought at the St. Louis Amiga show back in 2000, with the intention of networking four more A2000s into my network but never got around to it. Now that I am busy writing AmigaOS4 software fulltime, I think I can spare one or both of them for the cause. :-)

Drop me an Email me if you are interested.

As someone who's run both....  Personally, I'd stick with the 2065.  It's faster, cheaper, and more reliable than an X-surf.

The only downside is the Miami driver isn't as good [I run Genesis, though], and it requires a 10-b-T transciever if you want to use a standard RJ-45 cable.

I think you are thinking of the old X-Surf cards, the two I have are circa 1999 and have both the RJ-45 connector and a BNC connector, so there is no need for a transceiver in this case.

If anyone has use for them, I have a few of those tranceivers laying around. These can be used with the A2065 for a normal RJ45 connection.
