A600 PCI?
« on: December 25, 2004, 10:05:21 AM »
I might get a Amiga 600. Is it possible to use any of the Amiga 1200 PCI adaptors on one of these, along side a CPU upgrade? On that note what is the highest CPU you can use on one of these?

The A600 is the only Amiga that doesn't have an easiely accesable CPU-bus in one form or another, and therefore the only possibilty were cards to be clipped ontop of the soldered-in 68000.

Cards were made with 020 and 030 CPUs, but are hard to find, expensive and rather unreliable.

Sorry, but no PCI at all.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

On the other hand, you have the pcmcia port !! You can connect a Squirrel scsi controller, a Compact Flash card for extra storage, certain network cards, certain WireLess Lan cards, Whippet serial card, and even rare memory cards ... so donĀ“t be disappointed that you can not do as much as an A1200 in a tower  :-)
