You can have much more fun if you know a little Swedish and German: if you take the traditional Swedish season's greeting God Jul, och gott nytt år! (which by the way extends to all you Nordic Vikings) and listen to that with a German ear, you will end up with 'und auch Gott ein neues Ohr'---'and a new ear for God too'. This has happened, my girlfriend has the audiotape to prove it :-).

Haha! Swedish and German are so alike, bit still so different. I can imagine what they thought when SAAB Aerospace tried to sell them the Swedish Viggen-fighters back in the 70's! :-P

God Jul, och gott nytt år!

In norwegian that is:

God jul, og godt nytt år!

Not much difference  :-)

I know. I know that Norwegians and Swedes can communicate seemlessly with each other in their own language, and that Danish, while a little harder, is perfectly easy to understand as well. Probably like Dutch and Afrikaans, or perhaps even closer than that. I bet that someone fluent in Frysian or 'Greunins' (Toyman? Odin? :-)) can do equally well.
