Having read most of this thread today, I was enlightened by the sheer volume
of emotion that seemed to be present. For me, whose Amiga "they" can only
take from my (c)old rotten hands, there is perhaps less of that, but
9 years of a "closer relationship" is a relatively short time, in these
parts anyway. Which reminds me that it's Paula who has kept me company
through it all, also after adding PCI. I'm tempted by the current PPC offerings
(eg. Eyetech). Goes without saying though that I won't give up the old
system as long as I can keep it running. Hopefully soon, I can keep it more turned off as opposed
to now.

Let's support Amiga developers and keep the (boing) ball rolling!

I agree, but I don't have PPC hardware so it may be difficult to decide on a
major software purchase - are remaining developers going the AMIGA way?

Corrie, you describe the exact reason why I'm still here...

As with all of us my friend... the Amiga really symbolizes the true meaning of the word "community". I am really thankful that companies such Hyperion and Clickboom continue to make quality software for our beloved machines.

I would easily remain an Amigan to support just two companies, to ensure financial backing in the future.
The achievements that the Amiga has made are unbelievable at times. Take for example the clockport of the A1200. Who would have thought when the A1200 first hit the market, that in future times, users could run high speed serial and parallel ports from it? Or run a 16bit soundcard!!

Another example, take a look at games such as Quake and Doom, all these games were classed as complex 3d gaming and pc users laughed when they thought of Amiga being capable of running them. But look how we proved them wrong! The Amiga would have to be the master of adaption! Our developers (hardware and software) have utilised the Amiga to the maximum, in that they have adapted its versatility to our benifit.

Overall I believe strongly in the Amiga spirit, how many of us honestly over the latter years have thought it may be the end for the Amiga and then to prove us all wrong, someone or some company comes along to give the Amiga a boost or another breath of life! The Amiga is certainly a survival platform and I am positive that it will endure times to come.

We all need to joins hands and support those who offer us a chance to hold onto our dream. We have much to be happy about, we are all users of the greatest computing system that the world has ever seen and saying that, we could do no better, then to offer our full financial support to those companies offering to sacrifice the seduction of entering the pc market, and providing a less profitable service to all of us, by continuing to release products for the Amiga.

Let me put this idea forward to you all, if I may? How would the response be to companies such as Hyperion and Clickboom having donations available on their sites through PayPal? I personally would have no problems in donating a US$1 to the company and if all of us did this, I am quite sure it would impact positively on the Amiga community. The donations would be for the development of new Amiga software/hardware only. It may be a silly idea or dream, but what do you all think?

I would like to add further to the previous posting. If there is other people who think this would be of some benifit, what comapnies do we all think should have an "Amiga Donation" on their webpage?

If we have a few representatives of various Amiga companies on Amiga.org, please response with your thoughts on this? Could we make this work? I will happily start it off by donating US$2 to 15 Amiga companies for example.

Any further comments?
