Technician vs Technologist
« on: December 18, 2004, 01:12:07 PM »
I was on another site where someone advertised for Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technicians in the US. He wanted to know what he should offer these technicians in terms of pay, perks, shares etc.

The first reply he got was somebody who rather haughtily said 'First you must call us by our proper title, which is technologist, not technician. A technician just pushes a button."

Then another technologist came up with a classic comment. He said it doesn't matter what your job title is, as long as you are respected and paid fairly. But the line that had me rolling was this:

"...I have also seen this from physicians (radiologists included). They demand to be called "DOCTOR" but they couldn't pour pi$$ out of a boot with the directions written on the heel..."

I've never heard that before, and I am still wiping the tears from my eyes as I type this.
