Star Trek Generations DVD
« on: December 16, 2004, 12:27:02 PM »
This one caught my eye.  It's a BBC review of the ST Generations DVD, and cryptically mentions that Kirk's final exit was reshot but doesn't elaborate on the reasons why.

Does anyone know why the deleted scenes are so famous?

I'm don't even like Trek and I know the answer to that question :-o

IMDb

Quote
Kirk's death scenes were re-shot after preview audiences reacted badly to the original version, wanting a more "heroic" death. Kirk originally died after being shot in the back by Soran.

--edit--

The only things I like about Trek are TNG's Data and Voyager's hologram Dr.  But it's not worth sitting through an hour of rubbish just to see them :-P

Tell a lie, it's only 45 mins of rubbish - the adverts are ok :-P

Can't say I go overboard in Trek, but seeing as Shatner is famously erm, protective of his Kirk character I was intrigued as to whether he asked for script changes or not.

I tried giving Enterprise a chance, but it's just rehashed scripts from older shows with actors going through the motions.  Same with Voyager really...

It hasn't been the same since Kirk used like like:

"Sppppppaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhkkkkk!" or "Some. Kind. Of. Energyfieldlikenothingwe'veeverseenbefore" accompanied by vague facial expressions.
