yea, i use ide drives. and sysspeed said on drive test:

Create    156
Open       395
DirScan   3468
Delete  84
Seek/Read  1214
Createfile  1.98
WriteFile 2.10
Readfile 1.52
RawRead 1.55

this a sfs and ffs  (result in general analogy). i think
this realy slowly .. ?

p.s. about AMP, i get it, but if i run ':> amp file'
amp said - this a AVI file and exit ;)

@kas1e

he .. you just update heatsink, and divx playing fine ?

Yes, at 210Mhz i played Tomb Raider with 520x280 if i remember correct and with my BVision, at first the movie allways skip a lot of frames, but whem i changed the heatsink the movie was played very fine with very little frame skip sometimes.

I do have tested Softcinema with 2 video cards at the same time with my GRex (Voodoo3 3000 and Voodoo4 4000), the good think about this ?, when i redirect the movie to the card that don`t have the WB, the video get more FPSs, very cool.

Well now i have a overclocked system and i will put a very big Heatsink and cooler (some day), to push my BUS to 68Mhz or more and the CPU to 266 or 280  :-D .

I already tested my machine with 71Mhz BUS memory, and belive me, the performance is very good at 210Mhz i played the Earth2140 for like 10 minutes and i never see a so fast Eart2140 in my setup even when i have used the 240Mhz setup, but i have freeze`s sometimes so i back to 66Mhz BUS (Stable).

@DDJPPC

If you could produce some diagrams and instructions for overclocking
the Blizzard PPC it would be very welcome.  I could do with some more
speed out of the old beast.

I too  have a 210 Mhz PPC with 040/25 and have found
Softcinema/Frogger to be slow.  When comparing FroggerNG with Action
on my 060/66 it would seem that DivX performance could be a lot
better.  Maybe MooVidPPC could be worth a try.

By the way, if anyone can provide details of how to upgrade a
BlizzardPPC from 040 to 060 (power conversion/timings etc) I would
very much appreciate it.
The Blizzard sits in a box because the 040/25 sucks, even refreshing
Aorg seems to take ages without an 060.

i think 040 give _VERY_ slow transfer (any types). and
overclocking only resoldering resitor not good idea, need speedup oscilator from 66 to 70/etc. And of course need
change 040 to 060. So, i realy need too little help about
change 060 on 040.

if divx on PPCx300+/060x66 not playing fine - change
all ide on scsi,etc .. but i think, just little 040->060 change REALY speedup system (any tranfers), and divx playing.

@Rob

I will try to draw a diagram and put on-line with
some information on how i did the overclock.

BTW, i to want to upgrade my 040 (whit run cool as
ice at 33Mhz) to a 060 processor, but i want to put a
socket.

Ps: a overclocked CPU is good, but not good as a
overclocked memory BUS, try to find a good memory
module and then do the overclock, you will get more
power for sure, in my BlizzardPPC the OSC for
memory BUS is the same that make the multiple for
the PPCCPU.

Wow 300Mhz  :-D , i wish i can put my card at this speed, well, anybody here know something about a dead BPPC with SCSI to sell ?, i want the SCSI part to put in my BPPC if it is possible, i guess with a hard work it can be done.

PS: i played this Divx movies in my 1200 with a IDEFix97 Turbo (3.1 MB/s) in 25Mhz, and 3.6 MB/s in 33Mhz,  but the 040 cry's to transfer this amount of data  :-( , the best try is run in MorphOS mode where AHI is PPC and the 040 is in sleep mode :).

Whoa, I hope you've got access to SMD soldering equipment :-). And is it just the SCSI chip which is different? Isn't there also 'glue' logic missing from a non'+' Blizzard?

I read about a guy who has a 350Mhz BPPC.
He took the CPU from a Mac card and got some local electronics company to put it on his blizzard and do the overclock.  Thats the fastest Amiga I've heard about so far.  Some 300Mhz CSPPC's too.

I think the stock 603e/604e CPU's on Phase5 cards max out at about 266Mhz so going higher than that will mean getting a old mac CPU card (which are really cheap - like $20 on ebay) and taking the CPU from it, but you need a lot of experience to do this (or a knowledgeable local electronics company)

@odin

I can't remove any SMD chip but i have a friend ho can do this for me, and about the 'glue' logic chips, i can“t see any place available to put more chips in my BPPC, only the place for the SCSI chip is empty, but i can try to find more information about this suposed missing ( 'glue' logic's).

I get the information about the SCSI chip used in BPPCs, i need a NCR TolerANT 53c710 SCSI controller, i will try to find PC cards ho have this controller in the same encapsulation of course.

lets see  :-D .

Another information about my overclock, i removed 2 Transistors LT1585 and LT1580 from the board, in the original place this transistors try to reduce the self-generated hot in the board, and this help the 603e get hot very fast, as the 2 transistors are very close with other and with 603e, they are reconnected again with wires, but now this bad guys reduce the hot in the BIG heatsink, no more help to fry the 603e  :-P .

I do have a Delfina Lite (software overclocked to 60 Mhz), 060/50, 604e/233, 128MB RAM, CVisionPPC,etc..

Using the latest version of Frogger and a scsi device to read divx from, I can watch most of the divxs` without frame skipping in 640/400-16bit resolution

(BTW Amp is sooo slow playing divx)

Delfina decodes the audio of the divx and it speeds up the movie a lot.
Problem is using vlayer modes or 24bit modes slows down playback a lot. And as you know vlayer hugely improves the quality.

I can watch mpegs without frameskipping using 512/384-24bit modes using vlayer and Delfina.

Still Frogger has audio/video unsynchronization problem on my machine. But I think it will be solved as the programmer of Frogger is a really great programmer.

this is exactly why no one uses their setups for video anymore..., too many to choose from and the quality of playback is random..

frogger NG and amp2 must be the fastest ones here, but moovid pro aint bad either..

but since every of theese is buy ware means i cant really recomend em yet, as basically u need em all which is sad....1 should be enough and it should be internally in the os...and free if u ask me, beyond that i am a frogger nG owner + amp and moovid.

anyway about the problems mentioned here , the 040 is slow and most likely u will need a scsi II drive or a powerflyer for the playback drives,
clocking the cpu to 33mzh (if 040) is wise, but 040/40 aint always..., the memory bus to 66 is also wise, but be sure to rip off the fan + cooling rib u have on the ppc now , exchange it with bigger and better ones and put new cooling paste on the TINY cpu inside :)

i only have problems with "fast forward" functions in the divx players...all other is ok, and streams fine..., when i FF everything stops and suddenly goes 3x (or more) speed for a few secs, so its not  really big issue......imho.

hope this helps, and i pasted a overclocking page for cppc and bppc here some weeks/month ago, so do a search in the forum about PPC topics, or i will come back to you with the link, its fairly easy but if u want to change the core VoLT and switch from 040 to 060......well i have NO experience in that...

Whats up with all the hate!
