WinUAE and ixnet
« on: December 12, 2004, 03:39:46 PM »
Has anyone got internet software that requires ixemul.library and ixnet.library, working properly on WinUAE?

I get "Can't get socket" messages and "Forward host lookup failed" when trying to use netcat.

2nd problem: I keep getting gfx corruption every now and then when switching between screens.. Perhaps it's FreeWheel, FlipSide or TitleClock that i'm running in WBStartup.

Hum,
what is the software you were thinking of, natcat?
perhaps there a n alternative?

You probably are using an emulated 040?
so you`ll need the xemul.library 48.0 68040 , Ixnet.library 48.0 68040, ( at least version.. 47 are required)

As for screen corruption, freewheel seems to be fine, try disabling TitleClock and use TolleUhr.lha

Did you enable bsdsocket emulation?  I think you need to enable bsdsocket.library emulation in order to do internet access inside WinUAE.

I'm not a newbie i've been using Amigas for 14 years.

The problem is only internet software that requires ixemul and ixnet. Everything else is fine, but when compiled with geekgadgets, it's not.

I have 68040.library already.. Like I said, not a newbie ;)

If I install Miami and use the real bsdsocket.library, it's fine.

Run SnoopDOS and look what is missing. Probably usergroup.library or something like that.

You could install Genesis or AmiTCP, just to have the AmiTCP: assign with all the libs in. Miami provides these libraries, too, but it does not run concurrently to bsdsocket emulation, so it is not an option.

Bye,
Thomas

What do you know, usergroup.library was it ;)

Thanks heaps!

I thought it was something only needed for InetD stuff.

I managed to rececue one of my old Amiga hard drives (within a few days of the drive dying :-o), and have found that the Netconnect software package installed on that drive refuses to work with WinUAE :-( so sad am I.
