How to Install Budda on a large HD?

I have the Catweasel/Budda card and I am trying to install the driver disk for the Budda, but when I execute the install file I am told I only have 3.9GB and that is not enough to install the 440Kb program. Go figure! I think I might need to repartition my HD to smaller partitions. Before I do this, is there any work around to bypass this limitation on a 4GB partition in OS3.1? Thank you.

That's probably cause the filesystem reports anything above 2GB as negative so the installer is told you got something like -2GB space on the drive. With original FFS maximum partision size is 2GB and drive size is 4GB. There are patches and other filesystems to help you but I'm not the one to ask about that.

There's a tutorial on how to use harddisks larger than 4GB on my website www.ami.ga

It deals with TD64, but the Buddha also supports NSD64, so you're 100% compatile with any command set that's out there for large HDs.

If you're using OS3.5 or OS3.9, make sure NOT to patch the scsi.devic of the Buddha with the NSDpatch, because it alreadz IS an NSD device. Patching twice only produces a zombie that crashes your machine.

Add 2GB of temporary data, and the installation will work then. You can delete the data afterwards.

You need to use a newer filesystem such as latest FFS in AmigaOS 3.5/3.9 or get hold of SFS or PFS filesystems.

Using FFS v40 is not advisable over 4GB as writing data over the 4GB limit will overwrite data at start of the drive!

I was under impression the partition was fully within <= 4GB area, not over it? Anyway, this is assuming he's using old scsi or ffs... Old scsi and ffs are fine as long as the partition is fully below 4GB limit.

Like Brian pointed out, that particular error message is due to bug in the installer, it handles disk size signed, not unsigned. Thus, if the partition has more than 2^31-1 bytes free, the installer will see it as negative number. This problem can be worked around by filling the disk until the (free_bytes & 0xffffffff) becomes <= 2^31-1.

There`s an updated v43 installer on aminet,  and a couple of Installer clones too, maybe you could try them out first to see if any of them can do it ?
 Failing that, you could always read the install script and copy the files by hand
