Rare A500? Which is it.
« on: November 26, 2004, 05:35:59 AM »
Ok what is the deal.  I am wondering if this is true.  Doomy claims that the small square C= logo A500 is Rare, and the long logo with Commodore A500 is common.  I have two A500's and both have the small square C= logo.  What do you guys think? :)

I know that the A500 Plus has the long logo.  But I am talking about plain old A500's here.

@TjLaZer

IMO...its just another figment of Doomy's imagination, a ploy as it be, a ploy to try and sucker more money out of people. Now repeat after me..."There is no Doomy, there is no Doomy, etc. etc.".

Edit...Do you think this is really Doomy's colour??? :lol:

well, the square logo a`s are the most common... You should check whether you have the motherboard version 5 or 6. The rev5 is more rare than 6, which is most popular design. The real rar a500s were thore who had square logo ENGRAVED instead of sticked to the case, these were mostly pre-rev 5 dated 1987-half 1988. All of they have kickstart 1.2! I have one of them... You can check trevision by looking at the motherboard under the floppy drive.
MacBook C2D 1.83/1.25GB/80GB/Combo
AMD Sempron 3400+  AM2 1800MHz->2400MHz/1GB/80GB/DVD-RW

no Amigas ...  :-(

Agree... the small and long logo are about eaqually common while the engraved one, that's rarer.

Taken from the add:

"Up for auction is an Amiga 500 personal computer", what's with the personal computer? One can argue that all home computers are personal computers but I'm pritty sure the only commodore machine flagged as a personal computer is the C64.

"This Amiga 500 is the rarer Premier Issue with the small, square Commodore logo." dumdumdumd, I'm not saying anything.

"It has a revision 5 motherboard and the more desirable OCS chipset." Ehm... OCS is more desirable than what on an A500? A500+/600 yes have ECS and yes ECS is more desirable if you ask me (but you probably arn't). And Rev5 mb is a downer no matter hot "desirable" your lill chipset is.

"total of one meg of ram... All classic Amiga games will run on this computer." And what planet do you live on? Either he's definition of classic is alot different from mine or this is pure bs.

"high quality Amiga 2000... low quality Amiga 1200" need I say anything? Even in adds for other product he manage to include this bs activly reducing the number of potential buyers.

"The picture in this auction is a stock photo" Thanks for that... it doesn't show your "rare" small logo.

argh.. se you got me started on this again.. sigh
